This motorcycle arrived with us as pictured above. meanwhile we have already had a lot of work to get this motorcycle back on the road.
The work that we did is:
Engine:
- Disassembly of the engine.
- New bearings installed.
- Crankshaft set.
- Small end bushing replaced and reamed on existing piston pin.
- Piston fit perfectly and looked good as did the piston rings that were on it.
- Valves looked good and these were also nicely straight.
- valve guides made and reamed on the valves.
- Seats ground and polished.
- Everything has been ultrasonically cleaned.
- It turned out that a spring was missing in the oil supply to the crankshaft.
- There was a wrong inlet camshaft sprocket, luckily we had a spare for this.
- Oil pump disassembled and cleaned.
Gearbox:
- Disassembly of the gearbox.
- Everything has been ultrasonically cleaned.
- New bearings installed.
- Gears checked for damage or wear.
- Gearbox checked for function.
- Gear control made to change gears.
- Clutch disassembled and cleaned.
- replaced clutch plates and replaced some steel plates that were worn out.
- clutch bearing to replace.
- Retaining plate made for the gearbox sprocket.
frame:
- Checked that the frame is straight.
- New set of steering head bearings fitted.
- Saddle newly made on the motorcycle due to universal saddle.
- Footrests and the footrest flanges created.
- Front fork disassembled.
- Fork cleaned.
- Front fork checked for play.
- Fork reassembled with new grease.
- Triumph frame plug cap set mounted.
electrical:
- Have Magdyno rewound and replace the original magnets with stronger magnets because of no spark during kickstart. This is an weak point of these magdynos.
- Complete wiring harness made.
- Headlight mounted and connected.
- Taillight including brake light mounted in our Red Hand Classics license plate holder and connected.
- Amp meter connected in the headlight.
Paint parts:
- Fuel tank repainted.
- Oil tank repainted.
- Chain guard repainted.
- Frame and swingarm has already been painted.
- rims and brake drums are already painted.
Fuel supply:
- New fuel taps fitted.
- New ones nickel plated fuel filters mounted.
- New copper fuel lines made.
- Have the carburettor overhauled.
- Fuel tank derusted and cleaned.
Oil supply:
- Oil banjo set created.
- New copper oil pipes made.
- Oil sleeve and rubber set created.
- Oil tank derusted and cleaned.
Service:
- New throttle cable made.
- New air cable made.
- New ignition cable made.
- New brake cable made.
- New clutch cable made.
- New Big/small light and horn switch fitted.
- New Brake light switch fitted.
- New horn switch fitted.
Wheels / brakes:
- Wheels checked for runout.
- Tires fitted with inner tubes.
- Brake drums cleaned and moving parts re-greased for smooth operation.
- Brake lining checked for brake shoes and they are as good as new.
Miscellaneous:
- Prepare motorcycle inspection for the RDW.
